HORSE ROUNDUP

YEARLY EVENT: HORSE ROUNDUP

Like with our sheep, most of Iceland’s horses spend their time wild and free in the highlands with neither supervision nor control, for the whole summer. And like with the sheep, we roundup the horses in September to bring them back to our farm.

I invite the experienced horseback rider to join me in the horse roundup. It is an uplifting way of experiencing the mountains on horseback in the north-east of Iceland, and this also is a grand opportunity to keep this wonderful tradition alive.

Horse Roundup normally takes place the 2nd weekend of September.
